European authorisation for schizophrenia drugMonday 2nd July 2007 The European Commission has granted marketing authorisation for the atypical antipsychotic Invega™ (paliperidone) for the treatment of schizophrenia. This once-daily medication, which uses the OROS® osmotic delivery system to deliver paliperidone in a prolonged release manner, will be marketed in Europe by Janssen-Cilag. The EU approval of Invega is based on efficacy and safety results of an extensive clinical development programme.
